NEA: July 2024 social electricity consumption up 5.7% year-on-year

On August 22, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption and other data for the whole society in July.

In July, the whole society consumed 939.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year. From the point of view of electricity consumption by industry, the primary industry consumed 14.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 1.5% year-on-year; the secondary industry consumed 565.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 5.0% year-on-year; the tertiary industry consumed 187.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 7.8% year-on-year; and urban and rural residents consumed 172.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Living electricity consumption of 172.7 billion kWh, up 5.9% year-on-year.

From January to July, the total electricity consumption of the whole society totaled 559.71 billion kWh, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year, of which 5,323.9 billion kWh was generated by industries above designated size. From the point of view of sub-industry electricity consumption, the primary industry used 76.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 7.5%; the secondary industry used 3,632.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 6.6%; the tertiary industry used 1,039.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 11.0%; the urban and rural residents living in the countryside used 848.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 8.4%.
