On November 16, 2023 BRICS Partnership Forum on New Industrial Revolution was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province, Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Cui Yonghui, Secretary of Xiamen Municipal Party Committee, Lin Ruiliang, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, Huang Wenhui, Mayor of Xiamen, Gao Wang, Ambassador of Brazil to China, Alexei Grudjev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Niu Wangdao, Ambassador of Argentina to China, and Giuseppe Joffreda, Ambassador of Venezuela to China, and other representatives of the BRICS and the "BRICS +" countries such as Ambassador Gao Wang, Ambassador of Argentina to China Niu Wangdao, Ambassador of Venezuela to China Giuseppe Yovreda, representatives of BRICS and BRICS countries, Executive Officer of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Zou Zhaoyong, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the New Development Bank (NDB) Zhou Qiangwu and other heads of international organizations attended the event on-site or by video.
Zhang Yunming said that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the BRICS Partnership for a New Industrial Revolution (NIR), and emphasized during his trip to South Africa to attend the BRICS Leaders' Meeting this year that we should focus on key areas such as green development, new industrialization and the digital economy, and push forward the construction of the NIR partnership to help high-quality development. China will be guided by the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speech, uphold the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, promote the implementation of the consensus of BRICS leaders, and take the expansion of BRICS as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation in the industrial sector of BRICS countries, and to promote high-quality development of the partnership. First, grasp the opportunities of the new industrial revolution and jointly promote the industrialization process of BRICS countries. We will strengthen policy communication and dialogue between politics, industry and academia on smart manufacturing, new materials and artificial intelligence, and carry out cooperation and training programs on human resource development in new technologies, so as to jointly promote the process of inclusive and sustainable industrialization. Second, conform to the development trend of new technologies and jointly promote the digital transformation of BRICS countries. We will strengthen cooperation in digital infrastructure construction, bridge the "digital divide" and promote the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, so that the fruits of development can better benefit BRICS countries. Thirdly, we will adhere to the concept of sustainable development and jointly seek green industrial development in BRICS countries. The concept of sustainable development should be carried through the whole process, chain and field of industrial production, deepen exchanges and cooperation in green technology, equipment and standards, and take the same green, low-carbon and sustainable development path, so as to contribute to the maintenance of global sustainable development.
Under the theme of "Deepening Partnership and Cooperation and Promoting New Industrialization in BRICS Countries", the forum was co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the People's Government of Fujian Province. More than 300 participants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the BRICS Business Council, the BRICS Think Tank Cooperation Council, embassies and consulates of relevant countries in China, as well as representatives from international organizations, famous enterprises and industry associations participated in the forum, and carried out extensive and in-depth discussions on the topics of Industrial Internet and Digital Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, Intelligent Manufacturing, Green Sustainable Development, Industry Integration and Collaboration, and Energy and Electronics.
During the Forum, a series of activities were held, including the final round of the BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition, the first meeting of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the BRICS Innovation Base, the Training Course for Excellence in Technology and Governance for the New Industrial Revolution in BRICS 2023, and the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Exhibition, etc. A total of more than 1,300 projects from the BRICS and BRICS+ countries participated in the final round of the Innovation Competition.
