Transportation ministers from more than 20 countries to promote renewable energy in transportation in Beijing

On the afternoon of September 25, the Ministerial Forum of the Global Summit on Sustainable Transport (2024) was held in Beijing, with the theme of "Global Governance - Establishing a Global Partnership for Sustainable Transport", in which ministers of transport from more than 20 countries shared their experiences in global transport governance. Ministers of Transport from more than 20 countries shared their experiences in global transport governance, expressed forward-looking and constructive insights, put forward a series of targeted recommendations, and expressed their goodwill to further strengthen transport cooperation and actively establish a global sustainable transport partnership. The Chinese side has put forward the Development Vision of the Global Summit on Sustainable Transportation (Beijing Vision), which has been positively responded to and supported by all participating countries.

Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport of China, presided over and delivered a speech in which he warmly welcomed the representatives of various countries to the Forum. He pointed out that the representatives attending the Forum reached the following consensus in their speeches and exchanges: firstly, to enhance the level of transportation infrastructure connectivity, jointly promote "hard connectivity" and "soft connectivity" in transportation, and play an important role in guaranteeing the security and stability of the logistics supply chain and enhancing global economic cooperation. Li Xiaopeng emphasized that China has put forward the Beijing Vision to further enhance the international community's understanding of the importance of sustainable transport, and proposed to continue to hold the Global Sustainable Transport Summit, which is committed to answering the question of the times, namely, to promote sustainable transport development, and to provide a new platform for cooperation to jointly promote the sustainable development of transport. The adoption and release of the Beijing Vision at this Ministerial Forum will further build consensus, demonstrate our determination and confidence in advancing global transport cooperation and promoting sustainable transport development, and make positive contributions to the realization of global sustainable development goals. China is ready to work with all parties to implement the consensus of the Beijing Vision, support the continuation of the Global Summit on Sustainable Transportation, and work together to build a high-level platform for global transportation cooperation on the basis of joint consultation and sharing, so as to promote global transportation to take new steps on the road to sustainable development.

On the same day, Li Xiaopeng also met with Kuwait's Minister of Public Works Noura Mohammad Mishaan, Tajikistan's Minister of Transportation Azim Ibrahim, and exchanged in-depth views on topics of common interest.
