MOFCOM: Expanding Economic and Trade Cooperation with ASEAN Countries Focusing on Photovoltaic and Other Fields

China and Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia and other ASEAN countries signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Investment Cooperation in the Field of Digital Economy and the Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Investment Cooperation in the Field of Green Development, and the China-ASEAN FTA Version 3.0 for the first time included a special chapter on digital economy and green economy, which fully demonstrates the importance of China and ASEAN countries in digital and green development. As a next step, China will cooperate in the following areas:

The first is to strengthen policy docking and promote interactive development. We will utilize the bilateral economic and trade joint committees between China and ASEAN countries, as well as mechanisms such as the working groups on investment cooperation, trade facilitation and e-commerce, to strengthen policy docking, encourage exchanges in the industry, and promote synergistic development between China and ASEAN countries in such areas as green energy, information technology and e-commerce, so as to provide a mechanism for guaranteeing cooperation in emerging areas.

The second is to play the role of a platform to build consensus on cooperation. During this year's Expo, activities such as the promotion of environmental protection innovation and cooperation, the exchange of new energy to the sea, and the China-Indonesia dialogue on environmental protection industry will be organized to make full use of the Expo platform to strengthen exchanges with ASEAN countries in the new fields of production, learning and research, to help ASEAN countries to improve their capacity-building and industry docking, and to improve the quality of the development of the emerging fields.

The third is to stimulate the advantages of enterprises and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation. We will continue to encourage enterprises to expand economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN countries in accordance with the principles of marketization and commercialization.
