Germany: new PV installations in April 2024 up 17.76% year-on-year

According to the latest statistics released by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), 1.04GW of new PV was installed in Germany in April 2024, up 17.76% year-on-year.

In April, new PV installations were dominated by EEG-subsidized rooftop solar systems, which accounted for 572.2 MW, but lower than the 632.9 MW in March.According to the EEG bidding program, the amount of installed capacity of ground-mounted projects that won the bidding was 323.6 MW, and the amount of installed capacity of rooftop PV systems was 23.8 MW.In addition, compared with the 186.2 MW in March, the new additions of non-subsidized ground-mounted PV projects in the month capacity dropped sharply to 83.1 MW.

In January-April 2024, Germany added a combined total of 4.98GW of new PV installations, up 34.23% from the same period in 2023.Among them, Bavaria installed the largest capacity of 1.096GW, followed by Baden-Württemberg with 684.9MW, and Saxony with 651.6MW.

By the end of April, Germany's cumulative PV installed capacity reached 82.94GW.
