China Electricity Council: new energy installed capacity expected to rise to about 1.3 billion kilowatts by the end of 2024

In the first two months of this year, wind power, solar energy as the representative of the new energy installed continued to speed up, power structure to accelerate the diversification of green transformation, wind power, photovoltaic power generation has become the absolute main body of China's new installed capacity.

According to statistics from the China Electricity Council. At the end of February 2024, the share of China's installed coal power had fallen to 39.3%The new energy power generation continues to develop rapidly. Driven by the continued rapid development of new energy power generation, the rapid growth of non-fossil energy power generation installed capacity has reached 1.62 billion kilowatts, accounting for the proportion of the total installed capacity rose to 54.6%. of which, the new energy power generation installed capacity reached 1.1 billion kilowatts.

In addition, as of the end of February key survey enterprises power project completed investment increased by 8.3% year-on-year, non-fossil energy power generation investment accounted for nearly 90%.

Yang Kun, Executive Vice President of China Electricity Council: It is expected that by the end of 2024, the installed capacity of new energy power generation will further rise to about 1.3 billion kilowatts, accounting for the proportion of total installed capacity to about 40%.

We often say that fossil energy includes coal, oil, natural gas, which are extracted from the ground; non-fossil energy includes hydropower, wind power, nuclear power, geothermal energy and so on. New energy mainly refers to the wind power in non-fossil energy.
